Research Highlights

Inflammation is one of the body’s major defense mechanisms in response to infection or injury, but when it is uncontrolled, it causes inflammatory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, otitis media and cancer.

The focus of this new Center is to better understand the molecular basis of inflammatory diseases and further develop novel therapeutic strategies. In particular, the Center focuses on the following areas: inflammation, innate immunity and microbial pathogenesis in respiratory and intestinal systems; innate immunity, inflammation and vaccine development in influenza virus infection; development of novel therapeutic anti-inflammatory agents.
